New Year Wishes 2006 Last sunset of
2005 is just minutes away in Atlanta. This year both my host and home country
faced their worst natural disasters. I went to New Orleans as a part of CDC team
and quickly realized that no TV coverage could have shown the scale of
devastation. Even the most technological advanced nation was humbled by its
ferocity and many nations offered to help. Then there was an earthquake in
Pakistan killing more than 100,000 people and critically injuring many more.
Once again everyone came to help. If anything good has come from this
destruction is the revelation that we need each other to survive on this earth.
No amount of wealth can save us when Mother Nature is challenging us. Talks
about “clash of civilizations” may lead us to the “end of civilization”
so let’s act as good neighbors and respect and help each other. That is the
only way to survive. Thanks,
